Where Have All the Flowers Gone?

Listening to the song in the title of this entry, it makes it difficult to believe that the song's composer, Pete Seeger, was ever under investigation by the House Un-American Activities Committee, but he was.

This poignant song resounds as loudly today as it did when written in 1956. It reminds us that "troops" are not just numbers--they are real human beings. Ten troops killed means 10 more men or women will never hold their children, will not grow older with their sweethearts, will not come back to enjoy the freedom for which they fought.

Flowers meant for beauty and inspiration are instead marking the graves of people far too young to have died. I hope you'll take a few moments to listen to the song and watch the video. It is inspiring.

  1. Wonderful post. We have lost too many to war.

  2. Thanks for dropping by, Amy. So many countries have lost lives of loved ones in the senseless and cruelty of war.
