P Is for Perhaps I Am Getting the Hang of This Blogging Thing

It used to feel like a chore to me to first find something about which to blog and then to sit down and actually do it. But this blogging challenge has shown me that blogging isn't rocket science and it's not brain surgery. I believe I was taking it way too seriously. I also believe that another "P," perfectionism was getting in the way.

Sure, I'd like my blog to take off and be wildly popular, but that's not the reason I began blogging. I have to trust who I am as a person and a writer.

The proof will be in the pudding, as they say. And two more "P" words for today's entry.

At this point in time I can't imagine keeping up with more that one or two blogs at a time, but who knows? For those of you with more than two blogs, how do you manage? I'm sincerely interested.

  1. I'm with you on that question! One seems to be all I can handle. How do people do it with many more???
Happy to have met you through A-Z Blogging Challenge! My blog is http://www.betterthanordinary.blogspot.com

  2. How do I do it? I drink - a lot! No, I'm just joking. Organization, to do list, small rewards when I reach my goals - even if it's just taking the time to play a game or visit with a friend. I have 3 active blogs, one in the development stage and bunches of private clients and web work. It's all I do.
Feel free to visit any one of them. http://moneysavingparent.com & http://atozlearningtre.com http://greatbeernow.com

  3. I have four and wasn't doing very well with maintaining them on a regular basis. Two of them I did ok with, but still not very consistent.

This challenge is going to fix that for me, or I'll die trying. So far I have a post for all four of them through today. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Popping in by way of the A-Z Challenge. I’m blogging at:
    Write, Wrong or Indifferent
    Marie Anne’s Missives
    In the Garden With Sow-n-Sow
    Every Day Crochet

  4. @Ilene: Maybe after this challenge we'll be ready to take on a second blog. I believe we can do it.

@Lisa: You sound like a very organized person. I begin each day wanting to be, but I let many things distract me. Kudos to you.

@Marie Anne: You've done a great job of keeping up through the challenge so far. If you can do this, I'm wagering you'll be good to go afterwards.

  5. I think that we can sometimes want our blogging to be perfect, but life isn't like that. I often run out of time for things to write, but having got this far through the challenge, I am hoping I can continue to write about something daily as time goes on. There is always something to write about - helpful information, griping about what's in the news, vacations etc...

  6. @Tony; You're right...there are tons of things to write about, but how is it that just sitting in front of the keyboard makes my mind go blank? I think that's why it's important to get up and away from the computer to experience "real" life. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. I think you're doing quite well (I love your choice for B, by the way!!) My blogging was hit or miss until Marie Anne reminded me what I should have already known.....I'm a foodie. I post something about food almost every single day on Facebook. If I can do it there, I can do it in a blog. So, I do. I still post there as well, but I elaborate a bit more in the blog.

  8. I am managing to post to my one blog at least once a day, sometimes more. I am linking to other blogs as I write, and that is getting me some back links and more traffic. The A-Z challenge has certainly given me more impetus, and it has also given me more followers of which I am grateful. I am seriously considering starting all over again next month on my own. Using the letters has helped me be more focused on my topics.

  9. @SJerZGirl: Thank you and I've got to say I thoroughly enjoyed your blog. I wanted to "follow" it, but once I commented, I could not find a way to do so.

@KBalbify: I've found the same to be true of the A to Z Challenge and am now finding blogging to be fun instead of a chore.

  10. I'm guilty of taking things too seriously and allowing the perfectionism to get in the way, too. I'm pretty sure I couldn't keep up with several blogs during this challenge, but it's great to see so many rising to the occasion.

  11. @PK: Perfectionism is an impossible task master. Even though I am consciously aware of perfectionist tendencies, overcoming them presents an ongoing hurdle.
